City of Houston “No Parking In Yard” Ordinance

The City of Houston has specific laws in place to prohibit residents from parking in / on a residential yard. Meadowcreek Village is on record with the City of Houston supporting the enforcement of this law. Here are some of the reasons for this “No Parking In Yard” ordinance:

  1. It reduces the property value of the neighborhood due to the unsightliness of a vehicle blocking the view of the home.
  2. It can cause damage to landscaping in the yard resulting in the overall diminished look of the property.
  3. Vehicles can easily break the underground plumbing (which can be buried only a few feet below the grass) to and from the home. Broken City of Houston water lines can result in loss of water for many residents in Meadowcreek Village. Broken Home Owner water lines can result in very expensive plumbing bills.
  4. Parking in / on a yard can obscure the vision of the homeowner to see possible intruders, as well as, obscure the view of the Law Enforcement Officers looking for criminals.

As we can all see, parking in / on our neighborhood yards is not good for many reasons. This is why Law Enforcement can come by and ticket the illegally parked vehicle with a fine up to $150 dollars PER DAY! Most people would rather spend this money on something fun with their family and friends instead of giving this money away in parking fines. Let’s keep our neighborhood looking great, and keep everyone from getting unnecessary tickets from our Law Enforcement Officers. The City No Parking IN Yard Ordinance is posted below.
